Principal's Message

Welcome Message from Principal Gladys L. Wright

Dear Arcadia Families,

My name is Gladys L. Wright, and I am thrilled to welcome you to another exceptional school year at Arcadia Elementary School—where every child is a SCHOLAR!

With more than 33 years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of serving in diverse roles, including fifth-grade auxiliary teacher, first-grade teacher, K–5 interventionist, summer camp director, instructional coach, TCS Summer School Site Facilitator, Assistant Principal at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, and now proudly entering my sixth year as Principal of Arcadia Elementary. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Stillman College, master’s and education specialist degrees from The University of West Alabama, and a School Leadership Certification from The University of Alabama.

I am also a proud wife to Lamont L. Wright, a devoted employee of both Tuscaloosa City Schools and The University of Alabama. We are blessed with two sons, Caleb and Conner, both graduates of the TCS system and students at The University of Alabama. Caleb recently earned his degree in electrical engineering, while Conner is currently majoring in architectural engineering. As a family, we cherish our time together traveling, cooking, and playing board games.

At Arcadia, we believe in the power of relationships, rigorous learning, and responsive teaching. I am honored to lead a school community filled with passionate educators, supportive families, and incredible students. Together, we will continue to cultivate academic achievement, personal growth, and meaningful connections.

Here’s to a year of growth, discovery, and excellence!

Warmly, Gladys L. Wright Principal, Arcadia Elementary School
