Principal s Message

My name is Gladys L. Wright and I am excited to welcome you to another incredible school year at Arcadia Elementary School, where every child is a SCHOLAR!  

I completed my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Stillman College, my master’s and education specialist degrees at The University of West Alabama and my School Leadership Certification at The University of Alabama.  I have a total of 30 years of experience in education as a fifth-grade auxiliary teacher, first grade teacher, K-5 interventionist, summer camp director, instructional coach, TCS Summer School Site Facilitator, Assistant Principal of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and year two as Principal of Arcadia Elementary School.  

I am married to Lamont L. Wright who is a veteran employee of the Tuscaloosa City Schools System and The University of Alabama. We have two sons who are products of the TCS family and currently attend the University of Alabama: Caleb, electrical engineering major and Conner, architectural engineering major. As a family, we love to travel, cook, and play board games.  

Together, we can ensure that every student will excel academically, while concurrently, helping our students to build positive relationships that will last a lifetime.  

I am extremely blessed to be a part of an amazing team of teachers, staff, students, families, and community partners who believe in the power of learning and growing together!
